Help lab results back please

I have had hyperthyroidism for 20 years and have been on Tapazole. In July my endo wanted to do the RI thing. I said lets try PTU first to help with my liver enymes. Anyhow last tests in Sept- good. I'm on 50mg of PTU daily. This time: My results

T4 1.43 (.61-1.76) Norm
T3 3.8 (2.3-4.2) Norm
TSH .045 (.35-5.5) Low

So, I have an appt next week - he'll want to do RI because of the TSH. I do NOT want to I do not want to go hypo. As far as symptoms go- no shaking, no diarrhea, no trouble sleeping and my pulse is always about 62. I have lost 25 lbs, BUT- I'm training for a 5k marathon AND I starting watching my diet in July. What do you all think? Thanks in advance!!

Re: Help lab results back please

Let us look at your percentages.

T4 1.43 (.61-1.76) Norm - 71.3%
T3 3.8 (2.3-4.2) Norm - 78.9%
TSH .045 (.35-5.5) Low

Well you are in the upper end of the optimal region. My Aunt N with Graves sits in that region. If you are having no symptoms, I do not see why he should shift you or do an RAI. It is one thing if you start having heart issues and the like. However you may need a increase in your meds by a little bit just because your body has changed and its needs may have changed as a result. I would press for a shift in meds versus and RAI.

Good luck to you.

Re: Help lab results back please

A doc can't force you to nuke it. It's your thyroid and you can do whatever you want with it so all you have to do is stand your ground. Under the law, you have a right to participate in your treatment decisions and the doctor has to respect those rights. I'd say hang tight on the meds and retest in 6 weeks or so. As long as the frees are in range and you aren't experiencing symptoms, you're ok for now. It's perfectly safe to wait and see where this is going. Could be something to do with the training program. Could be a lab error.

Since you've lost 25lbs, there's less body mass. You may need a slight reduction in meds.

Out of curiosity, has it been the same doctor treating you with meds for the last 20 years?

Access.............since she is on Tapazole, didn't you mean to say a slight "increase" in meds instead of a "decrease"?
