Insulin pump/blood in urine

A neighbor recently got an insulin pump(last summer) and has been doing very well with it.
I was speaking with him last night and he has been undergoing tests for large amounts of blood in his urine(visible) for the last 3-4 months.

He has about 6 tests and so far they have found NOTHING wrong!

My question...has anyone ever heard of the pump possibly causing something like this?
I looked around and didn't see it anywhere as even being a remote connection, but it makes me go Hmmmmmm......

Just curious~~

Re: Insulin pump/blood in urine

As far as I know, there is no connection. The blood in the urine could be due to many things including infection and stones. Hope your neighbor gets better soon.

Re: Insulin pump/blood in urine

I agree with Cora. I can see absolutely no possible correlation between the pump and blood in the urine.

If all other test prove negative and he hasn't already had one, I'd suggest he push to have a cystoscopy done. This is where they actually look into the bladder through a scope. There could be a polyp in the bladder that is bleeding (polyps can be benign or cancerous), and that should be looked at.

Re: Insulin pump/blood in urine

Thanks for the replies....spoke with him again last night...to date 9 different tests done, including a cystoscopy(ouch) and they have NO clue!

Just strange that the pump is the only change in his lifestyle....

I'll post if it turns out to be connected.
