Post OB's reduced by anti-anxiety drugs?

After suffering back-to-back OB's for the past six months, I have resumed taking Wellbutrin, something that my MD prescribed to help me with a terrible bout of Fibromyalgia that I had about 18 months ago, which I suspected was related to some virus in the Herpes family.

The Wellbutrin also seems to help with my hypertension, which I control with Accupril, an ACE inhibitor. And, I have been taking acyclovir twice a day as suppression therapy, and have added to my daily regimen some multi-vitamins and DHEA, a hormone booster that touts a stronger immune system.

I know this seems like a lot of pills to take on a daily basis for a 43 year old, but it seems to have stopped the OB's, although I still feel those "twinges" occasionally and worry about being infectious.

I wondered if anyone else has noticed an association their frequency of OB's with the use of med's like prozac, zoloft, or wellbutrin?

I am also on Wellbutrin and have experimented with different dosages in the last year, although I don't think I've noticed a difference in terms of OBs...not that I've linked to the dosage changes anyway. But that's an interesting observation you make.

It makes sense that if stress aggravates herpes, and if an antidepressant alleviates stress, then it would also help calm down the herpes too. And I suspect that as you adjust your life to reflect your calmer, more centred state of mind, you may find that your body stabilises more too.

You mention Fibromyalgia as possibly being related to herpes. Isn't FM associated with Epstein-Barr, which is a form of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? E-B is caused by (Human Herpes Virus) HHV-4, and CFS and FM are also associated with HHV-6 and a relatively new category: stealth viruses. Interestingly, one of the many conditions that seem to be connected in some way to stealth viruses is depression, although I think it's more Manic Depression.

The Center for Complex Infectious Diseases (CCID) has some excellent, in-depth information about viruses and stealth viruses. You might want to check it out.
