Unhappy How can I help my daughter?

I'm a mother of three ( 2 are ADD ) in our part of the world we have no support, even my husband since he can't read English has no clue on how to help, my biggest problem is after my kids where diagnosed with ADD I discovered I had it to but in our school days we didn't have a name for it and I managed to change my self after falling in love with the piano to be an A student, it seems once we ADDers find something we can master we addict success. However with my 11 year old daughter she is not into anything yet, and I have no clue on how to help her with her studies she is starting to fail maths and gets her teachers frustrated from day dreaming which she can't control. I am thinking of seeing a biofeedback doctor that claims it really help children focus, but what else I can explain what a Diameter is 100 times and still see her confused. I wish their is something we can do as parents that will make our ADD kids happier in school. I was advised to use concerta extended, did anyone use it?

Re: How can I help my daughter?

My own experience with Concerta was somewhat underwhelming, but I know and I know of a number of people that have used it with great success. It's definately worth a try.

I'm honestly not familiar with the idea of biofeedback, so I'm of no help there, but there are other things you can do to help your kids, including altering and controlling their diet, providing structure at home and ensuring that they get sufficient sleep. I would consult with my doctor about these non-medicinal options as part of an overall treatment plan, to work in concert (pardon the pun ) with the Concerta.

Thumbs up Re: How can I help my daughter?

Thanks Thunor for your reply, I heard about the diet and will research it, but the routine is impossible because I am an ADD mother and can't follow a routine my self, I wish their are coaches to help.

I was reading about how can you help your daughter and i have two boys the older is 12 years old and he has been medicated with ritalin since he was 7 years old but he just takes it during class hours when he is at home studing its hard for me that he learns and i am serioulsly thinking in find the way of some concentration exercises to help him because i have got tired of been every day explaining same many times i feel that i cant continue like this is like i am studing all again and i need to find the way that he does not depend so much on me.
Can someone share with me about the diet? or something that help them to concentrate without medication.

Re: How can I help my daughter?

Here are the key points to the diet:
Cut all junk food esp. transfat stuff (chips, stuff from a box), refined sugars (soda, processed juices, candy), preservatives, MSG, artificial coloring (in fruit drinks, jello, etc). Cut DAIRY - no milk; it's very bad. Get back to whole foods, homemade and as much as your can, organic. If your kid reacts to phenols, then avoid berries, apples, peppers, tomatoes.
1) Essential fatty acid supplementation - flaxseed oil and in evening, fish oil (make sure it's purified)
2) Magnesium
3) B6

My son was diagnosed ADD and we are doing this diet; it is working.
