Need a new med

Hi everyone,
I am a severe allergy patient. I was recently put on Bromfenex which was working wonders and now the manufacturer has decided to stop making the drug because it has that phenodine (sp) in it. I wanted to see if anyone else had any idea on what to take. I have tried all the current ones pretty much: Allegra, Allegra D, Claritin, Clarinex, Zyrtec, Zyrtec D, Singulair, all with no relief. Thanks for your help

Re: Need a new med

It appears it may still be available from Canada. Do more research.

Re: Need a new med

Bromfenex is a combination of two different over-the-counter meds, an antihistamine called Brompheniramine and one of two or three different decongestants.

The decongestant (phenylpropanolamine) was pulled off the market for OTC meds in 2000 but has largely been replaced by other decongestants.

It looks like there are a number of medications - some prescription, some OTC that contain the antihistamine Brompheniramine (which is the part of Bromfenex that would help with your allergies).

I'd check around - you might try some reputable online pharmacies to see if they have a different formulation of Bromfenex - as long as it contains the same antihistamine you've been taking the decongestant shouldn't make much difference to its ability to control your allergies.
