Calf Pain...Please Read and Answer If You Can

Yesturday night I noticed a slight pain in my left leg. Its a dull, achy, crampy kind of pain (if that makes sense). It is between my ankle and my calf on the left side. Sometimes it hurts when I walk, but once I get going it goes away. Other times, after sitting for awhile, it will hurt when I get up, but again will go away getting up and walking. It isn't swollen or red or anything.

I guess the reason I am so concerned is that I am on Ortho-Tri Cyclen Lo and know there is a risk for blood clots while on the pill. Before the pain I was outside at recess with my students. We were playing a game and I was running backwards. I know I stepped wrong a few times. I was thinking it was that, but I am a huge worrywart about this kind of stuff and being on the pill made me even more worried.

Thanks
KDD

Blood clots tend to hurt a lot, not a little, and to make your leg swell below the clot. It's a lot more likely that you just injured it running. Maybe some ice or rubbing it or something would help.

The new pills are much much safer than the ones they used a generation ago, by the way.

Blood clot or other vein problems usually get worse if you walk; if you can walk it off, then it is probably like the person above said, a minor injury. Keep it monitored. Maybe the exercise warms the muscle and relieves the soreness. Perhaps a warm pack or heat rub will have the same effect.

If that was a blood clot, it would be one of the most painful things you have ever experienced in your life-trust me. It would be waking you up during the night and making you so miserable that you wouldn't be able to concentrate during the day. If it isn't hurting this much, you have just done some muscle damage that needs to heal. Try some aleve and some deep heat cream or something like it.
