Relief!

Hi All,

I have been a lurker on this forum for about a year now and have found great comfort knowing that I have a place to read other perspectives about treatment success. Thank you all.

I am writing my first post to share a recent success of mine in hopes that some of the rest of you will benefit. One month ago today I decided to try the DGL (licorice). I have been on Prevacid twice a day for over a year with no relief. I began the DGL twice a day (before lunch and dinner). Within 2 days, the pain in my chest stopped, and within a week the pain in my upper throat was almost gone. I still have a little raw throat and some mucus, but NOTHING like it was before. I have been able to back my Prevacid down to one a day with no relapses so far.

If you can tolerate the taste of licorice (It HAS to be chewed and it tastes like Jaegermeister--yuk!), I highly recommend giving this a try.

Good luck to all with the treatment of this condition!

Re: Relief!

Thanks for posting about your success with the DGL. I've tried the Bragg's apple cider vinegar remedy, but not DGL tablets. I saw DGL in pill form at the pharmacy the other day but I assume, since you talk about chewing your DGL, you buy it in a non-pill form. Can you share where you buy it and exactly what it is called? I might like to try this and cut my Nexium intake too!

Hi Kassie,

Its called Enzymatic Therapy DGL by Natural Medicines. It comes in a chewable tablet form and is available in just about any health food store. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Re: Relief!

I have been an acid reflux sufferer for nearly 3 years now. Taking Prevacid in the past and now down to 1 Pilosec a day. I really am excited to be on this forum and reading this info about DGL. I am going tomorrow to the health food store and try it out!
Thanks!!!

Re: Relief!

I think I will head to the health food store today too. I am so miserable! I woke up feeling rotten today. Thick swollen throat with mucus. When I try to eat something it feel like it is getting caught or scrapping on it's way down. It is burning down in there and I can just feel the acid. Help!! I am on generic zantac but it's on been a few days and I have only been taking one a day not two. Am I suppose to take the pill on an empty stomach or with food? Please help! I am trying the apple cidar vinegar thing too! Thanks!
