Thumbs down ugh.. struggling big time.

hi everyone. i am currently taking 60mgs of Cymbalta. I have the worst anxiety still. I don't want to leave the house. I'm nervous of doing EVERYTHING. Just sitting here I'm nervous. I try to distract myself but it doesn't do all that good. Does anyone else take Cymbalta? This is so hard to get through.. I see a therapist and a Psychiatrist. PLEASE REPLY. I don't want to be alone like this anymore

Re: ugh.. struggling big time.

How long have you been taking the 60mg? I tried 60mg, and had too much nervous energy, so my dr. switched me to 30mg. I can take the 60 now. I found the longer I was on it, the anxiety went away. It took a couple of months, but it did go away. It was the best med I've taken.
My blood pressure has been running high, so my dr. now wants me to take wellbutrin. I've tried for a couple of months, and needless to say, it makes my anxiety worse. I want to change back to the cymbalta.

Re: ugh.. struggling big time.

I've been taking the 60mgs for a week and it did definitely increase my anxiety at first. It just sucks I'm dealing with so much.{REMOVED} Now I'm aware of my surroundings and thoughts and feelings its so weird and hard to deal with. i can't wait until this med starts to kick in and my anxiety goes away. Yeah I was on wellbutrin before and it just made me more nervous. hope <YOU>get to switch back<3

Re: ugh.. struggling big time.

If you've only been on 60mg for a week, then I would give it at least a few weeks or so longer. I kept stopping and restarting it because of the "nervous energy", and the last time I stayed with it, and the anxiety went away. I loved it! Did your doctor start you at 30mg before you started the 60?

Re: ugh.. struggling big time.

Ask your doc if you can have a mild tranquiliser for a week or two, just until the cymbalta kicks in. Valium, Xanax, Ativan, quite safe for a couple of weeks, and can give instant relief.

If the doctor isnt keen on benzodiazepines, Atarax (hydroxyzine) is a safe, nonadictive tranquiliser that reduces anxiety and tension quite well.

Give the doctor a call on Monday morning
