Question Desperate!!! Has Anyone Felt Like This On Xanax?

I really need some answers. I can not get a diagnosis from any docs about whats going on with me. I have anxiety and panic attacks. I started xanax a year ago I take .25 mg 3 times day. My question is has anyone ever felt that there equilibrium is off? For 5 months I have felt so weird like I'm being pulled to one side or the other, I call it dizzy but I don't have spinning or visual problems, just feel like i'm on a boat , or when I'm come down my steps, when I'm done I still feel like I'm coming down them. I hate it I can't work or function. I had every test done, I mean every test you can think of. I've been on all kinds off message boards looking for help, but none so far. I'm hoping there is someone like me out there. I'm weaning myself off of the xanax I started 2 days ago so it will take atleaste a month to stop. I stopped a couple of months ago but only for 2 wks, so I don't know if it would of helped me or not. Also this dizziness never goes away it is constant. thanks hollygirl33

The dizziness and problems your having is this while your on xanax or not on it.
I'v tried Xanax and it worked at sedating me then stopped working.
Have you tried Klonopin?

Re: Desperate!!! Has Anyone Felt Like This On Xanax?

it happens on and off of it. Yes i did try valium but it made me sick after second dose, I can't take to much everything makes me feel crappy except the xanax. I wonder if the xanax is giving me this weird feeling? I'll find out when I'm done weaning myself off but I've heard it may take awhile to feel normal cause the med has some crazy side affects even when your done taking it. thanks hollygirl33

Re: Desperate!!! Has Anyone Felt Like This On Xanax?

Hi Holly! I can remember about 11 years ago getting very sick from Tegretol and becoming what is known as "ototoxic". I was allergic to the med and it threw my balance off so badly(it affected my inner ear) that I began vomiting and had to take meclizine to straighten my ears out. Perhaps this is what's happening to you, only in a milder form. Check with your regular doctor and see what they say. I really hope you feel better soon. Take care--Hopeto--

Re: Desperate!!! Has Anyone Felt Like This On Xanax?

Hi Hope I have read about ototoxic meds and xanax is on the list. But I've been to 2 ENT docs one which is a top doc in Philadelphia and he says my ears are great, i had all the test done on my ears twice. Not to say it's not possiable that is whats wrong. I've read a few articles about ototoxic side affects and it seems I could have a problem or then again maybe not. All I know is I gotta get better. Then ent top doc said it's all in my brain, he says things happen like this and I should do vestibular therapy, which I start tues, I hope to it helps. Thanks for your reply Hope. hollygirl33
