Aciphex

I went to the ER last Friday, thought I had a heart attack.
Everything checked out ok.
This morning I had severe chest pain and a hollow feeling come up my throat. I took two tablespoons of Maalox and it went away.
My doc wants me to take 20mg of ACIPHEX once a day. (In the morning)
Has anyone had experience with this drug.
I used to get these attacks about once a year then it was discovered I had a blocked bile duct. Had a sphicterotomy and a stent for awhile. I was good for over a year now.
The weird thing is that I Never have heartburn.

Thank you for any reply
Liz

Re: Aciphex

Hi there! I have been reading alot of posts from others here on acid reflux and some don't have symptoms of heartburn. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I think it shows up in alot of different forms. It is really horrible dealing with it. I have gunk in my throat and the feeling that it is swollen in there and uncomfortable. It's hard to swallow. Sometimes I will get the burning sensation where the little valve is down where the tube meets the stomach. The last 2 days have been bad for me again. I thought I could go off my prilosec for a couple of days and that was a bad idea. Now I have to get going on it again and put up with feeling bad for awhile. ugh! Good luck!

Re: Aciphex

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I know how you feel. My neck feels always full and swollen. Especially on the right side. My doc took xrays and send me for an MRI. Turns out that I have several nodules on my thyroid glands. She said that they are under one centimeter and to small to autopsy. Of course now I am freaking out.
Have you heard about parathyroids? this is pretty informative. I will talk to my doctor about this when I come back from vacation next month. Sometimes we have to be our own ally.

I was starving and just ate some ramen chicken soup. I know that I should not eat this late but what is a girl to do....LOL
I always get hungry late at night.
Hope you have a good night.

Re: Aciphex

Hi Liz! Ya I did have a blood test for the parathyroid issue. It came back normal. This was a couple of months ago. I don't know what to do. I thought the prilosec was working then I skipped 3 days and I got bad again. Now I have been on it 3 days again and I am not feeling normal yet. It does worry me. I hope it is nothing serious. Keep me posted!

Re: Aciphex

Hi, Name?
I hope that you are doing better. I also had the blood test for Parathyroid and the calcium level was normal. I will persue it more toward the fall. Going on vacation next wednesday for two weeks.
I stopped taking the Aciphex as it gave me heartburn. It is so strange, I never had heartburn before. I am doing fine now. I heard on TV that sometimes when these meds are taken a long time they can actually make the condition worse. Have you paid attention as to what you are eating? When you have more problems? I had my gallbladder out several years ago and I know there are certain things that I have problems with. I love salad and eat it but if I do to much I can feel it.

Take care,
Liz
