Are these sinus issues allergies?
Like a few others, I'm at my wits end. I have been suffering from strange sinus pressure issues for a few months now. It started as just pressure above my eyes (like above my eyebrows) and my cheeks, everywhere that sinuses are. First my dr. gave me nasonex and astelin and it kind of helped a little, but it came back. Then they put me on an antibiotic for a sinus infection. Since I've stopped taking it, I still have pressure above one eyebrow. Its not that painful, just sensitive, the lightest brush and I can feel the pressure. Sometimes I feel it elsewhere but its mostly in that one area.
I've developed a severe case of anxiety to go along with this now. By looking on the internet, I've become aware of so many other things that could be wrong with me and I'm terrified that it could be really serious. I should note, never had any fever, never had any green stuff, no vision changes. Some clear discharge from rhinitis swelling.
So I've become terrified of my own terror as well since another website said that mild personality changes (like this onset of obsessive anxiety) are from this sinus condition. I'm tired, anxious and waiting to get into an allergist or ENT. Is this serious?? Is it allergies? Help!

Re: Are these sinus issues allergies?
This is quite possibly the weirdest thing i have ever encountered but i will share it with you and anyone else who is also suffering from horrendous allergies (and reading this--of course)
since i was 6 years old i have lived in Michigan and every spring/summer, my allergies became worse and worse.
A couple weeks ago, as a joke, one of my friends gave me a box of kinoki foot pads (they are something i saw on a weird infommercial that states if you put one of these pads on your foot when you sleep at night, it will draw out all the toxins from your body...it never said anything about curing allergies) anyway, since i had the little foot pads i figured i would try them out. after the first night of using them i didn't have a single runny nose, watery eye, sneezing fit, sinus pressure....NOTHING. So i used them every night until they ran out--for that period of time i was completely allergy free and didnt have to use any of my allergy pills or nasal sprays. Then before buying more i decided to see if the kinoki foot pads were really the cause of this allergy cure or if maybe my allergies had just subsided on their own and the timing was coincidental.
2 days later (2 nights without foot pads) my allergies were back in full force. I promptly bought my own package of kinokis and again--allergies GONE.
at this point i should probably put the disclaimer out that i do NOT work for Kinoki....i geniunely thought they were a joke and never expected any kind of positive result from them. But i am so astounded that for the first time--i am BLOGGING about them...(this is blogging, right? what im doing right now?)
so if you're willing to try anything to cure all the crappy allergy symptoms we all suffer from...TRY THESE. i want to know if people are finding the same results as i did....and good luck!

Re: Are these sinus issues allergies?
I know my massage therapist has a foot detox bath. Never noticed if they help with allergies or not. I detoxed when i had a sinus infection etc and i believe it helped.
Is there a reason you stopped using the nasal sprays? If it helped at all I would continue with them. How long was your antibiotic therapy? 10 days is not long enough to get rid of a sinus infection.. especially if it is deep in the sinuses.

Re: Are these sinus issues allergies?
I have been experiencing similar things, only not for months. I had a terrific headache and took Augmentin for it, thinking it was a sinus infection. The headache went away, but I still feel pressure around my eyes, eyebrows and cheeks. So, off to my ENT I went where I got probed with a camera via my nose. My doc said that I had a tiny bit of buildup in my sinuses, but there was a lot of swelling, which indicated a potential allergy problem. So she put me on Allegra, Flonase, and something called Bactrim to fight off any potential infection I still have.
And don't feel too bad - I also have anxiety issues and I constantly am worrying that whatever it is I have is something serious. But chances are, it's a sinus problem or an allergy problem. Or maybe both. I don't have a ton of advice, but I just wanted to let you know I'm kinda in the same boat as you are.

Re: Are these sinus issues allergies?
Im a 36 year old male who is suffering the same. I cannot believe that a nose problem can bring on anxiety attacks. Ive been suffering perenial rhinitis for a few years now, but its affecting my life more than ever. I sufferbad nasal congestion, but i think the worst bit is the initial reaction: i know im going to get an attack when my head starts 'wizzing' and a few moments later ill have the blockage. It also gets in my chest which can be worrying sometimes. I have never been a smoker but when i cough it sounds like im on 100 a day! Then theres the horrible anxiety bit; head congesting or tight chest, think im gonna pass out or something, then the panick sets in. A really vile condition is rhinitis and when you talk to a non sufferer they look at you bermused! Doc put me on beconase ive took it solid for 1 month, 4 sprays a day but think its making it worse! Is there any success stories out there?
