asprin risk in patient with recent gastric bypass surgery.

I am 5 weeks out from having gastric bypass surgery. I developed afib and was put on 325mg of asprin. I'm also on pepsid. Will this protect me from developing bleeding. I'm a nervous nelly.

Re: asprin risk in patient with recent gastric bypass surgery.

Since aspirin can cause stomach bleeding even though you are on Pepcid (which reduces stomach acids which can cause stomach bleeding), I would just keep a check to see if you are getting any blood in your stools (this would most likely be black and tarry as blood from higher up the digestive tract looks this way).

Hopefully your doctor is monitoring your blood well with regular tests (such as Pro-Time).

Take care!
