Quitting Lunesta stopped my acid reflux

I've spent months in discomfort trying to figure out what was causing my acid reflux. I tried quitting certain foods....tried all the "remedies" but nothing helped until one night I forgot to refill my Lunesta presciption and had to quit cold turkey for the night. Well the night was miserable but I noticed the next day that my acid reflux was almost gone. I never put the two together. Long story short....I've been off Lunesta for four days and my acid reflux is GONE. I want to know if there are any simular stories out there. I've heard this with Ambien as well.

There probably are others that find quiting certain meds help. Actually most Dr's think that anxiety meds (sleeping aids included) are bad for acid reflux since they relax the muscles and the LES is a muscle. I find that my Xanax helps me due to anxiety causing me to have symptoms much worse. I also take Ambian and lucky enough to not have reflux much during the night. In fact, I'm better lying down. Maybe since mine is the LPR type. Lunesta had a bad taste that stayed with me and I didn't get a full night's sleep. Ambian will make me go to sleep but I often still wake up during the night several times. I do go right back to sleep though. When I first got very sick with reflux, my Dr. said rest was most important to get well. Good Luck and hope you get some sleep.

I think heavy use of Lunesta and Ambien contributed to my LPR for the reason charberry discusses.
