THe curse of dental allergies

I've been having this tingling burning feeling in my bottom rightish side of my mouth. For well over 2 months, I got a dental filling for the first time in years after my previous burning experience. A few months later I developed some dermatitis/somewhat ezcema looking, I got antibiotics and some elidel.. SLowly the irritation got worse, until going on vacation and the burning feeling got quite intense. 2 and a half years ago I had a similar experience.

last thursday I mentioned the irritation and how I was concerned about allergies,to the dental assistant a sign of allergys Next thing you know she stuck 2 q-tips for numbing gel in, I mentioned the swollen salivary glands on the bottom of my lip,to the dentist with the q-tips in there.. I was far from assertive enough.. The dentist stuck in the needles and put 2 more fillings in.. now the left side of my mouth is feeling much worse my upper left area looks swollen and small red mark is appearing(where my upper molar was filled) The dermatitis signifcantly worse on the left side compared to last week. It's now worse looking then the right fpart when things used to be the opposite.

Earlier today I go in with my mom and the denstist does a fairly length checkup and says he doesn't think its the dental material. I've got swollen salivary glands all along the bottom of my mouth which are an allergic response. This may sound emo but I'd rather die then feel the way I do, the dermatitis looks horrible and I'm self concious to begin with, not to mention all the irritation I've been feeling which is the worst part. He tells me he doesn't think its a dental allergy and sends me on my merry way. I know he meant good and doesn't want to think he did any harm but still, sometimes u gotta be forcefull.
At this point I'm just going to call and tell him I want them out, even if he doesn't think their an issue, even though I know it's just about the only possibility left.

I screwed up big time by letting him put the 2 other fillings so now I've got 3 that have to be removed with big holes in my mouth, hopefulyl I can make due anything is better then feeling the way I do...
I might just lie and say I talked to my allergist and he says to get them removed maybe call the ENT for real..

Re: THe curse of dental allergies

Just tell the dentist you don't want the mercury fillings and set up an appointment to have them taken out. Dont let the dentist bully or intimidate you. If they try, find another dentist. They will charge through the roof for taking them out. I am gradually having mine taken out. The first ones I had out, I was sick for two days afterward. No protection from me breathing the atomized mercury, they used the suction on me, so I never felt like the pieces were cleaned out of my mouth properly. The next time, I took my own safety mask and insisted that I use it, and that they start up the old water in the cup then spit routine, and I swished and swished every chance I got to get all the crumbs out. I didn't get sick the second time. Have two more to go, and they charge quite a bit to do it, and my insurance doesn't cover. But it's worth it. Dentists who believe there are problems have a special setup where you get a mask to breath oxygen rather than the fumes.

My dentist continues to tell me the fillings cause no problems. But think of it - if they ever do admit it, there will be mass lawsuits filed, especially from those of us who have complained and argued with them for years. So they can't afford to admit it. But who in their right mind can believe them? The fillings taken out have to be treated as hazardous waste, we can't even have mercury thermometers any more. But in our mouths, it is harmless????? Do they take us for fools? It's probably more about money - take a cheap substance and stick a high price on it. Kind of like cigarettes. The people making the money don't care about our health.
