Post Need Help with diagnosing Son

Two and a half months ago my son was a healthy energetic teenager starting high school. Now he's in a wheelchair outside the house, crutches inside-this is due to severe joint pain especially in the knees. He can no longer read because of the severe headaches that emerge from the constant background headaches he has. He is always tired, sometimes has tremors, dizziness, some short term memory loss and irritable bowel. This all began with hives and joint achiness. The hives are gone but the joint problems remain. He had negative results on all tests so far (blood work, ANA, lyme titer). The doctor says its probably a virus and will go away on its own. The more I learn it seems that it takes months sometimes to test positive on any of these tests. My son feels the doctors don't feel anything is wrong we feel something is. Any thoughts - we'd like to hear them. Thanks, Debbie

Unhappy

debbie,

I have no answers for you. Just a hug. I am sorry this is happening to you and your son.

Good luck. I wish I could offer advice. I have none. Try some alternative therapies, like homeopathy and acupunture. They will help and at least you will be feeling proactive.

I am so sorry.

You might want to have your son tested for an autoimmune disease such as polymyositis. Joint aches are a common symptom for this type of disease and it often goes mis-diagnoised. If you are in the position to go to Mayo Clinic, these folks will not let you leave until you have a diagnoises. Take him there if all else fails.

I have polymyositis and it can take on many different forms,I have tried many different drugs that was experiment only and was not effictive in this fight. there is a test that can let you know the levels of elevation, this test is called CPK. this test will also let you know the amount of inflamation.I now take a drug that works in my emezemes and for inflamation that has proven to work well for polymyositis.I hope this help you and your son to know that you're not alone with this illness, and if I can be of any help to you and your son please reply.I have lived with polymyositis for ten years now,and if you can get the right medication on the onset it will not turn to be chronic, such as with me.I now has come into a stage of remission and now trying to find something that will help me to build muscle mass, if anyone has any suggestion please post.thank you

I would advise you to find the Great Plains lab on the internet. Call Dr. Shaw, he is the research doctor. He will give you a free consultation over the phone. I suggest having your son tested for Candida, and bacteria. Candida can be very debilitating, causing many problems. Also Fibromialgia is another test you should have done. Could he have had a Flu vaccine that he had a bad reaction to?? Some vaccines have mercury in them, causing all sorts of reactions, especially in children. I wish you the best. I am in a similar situation where the doctors don't know what is going on with my son, however, he is 3, and we believe he had a bad reaction to a vaccine. The best thing to do above all things is to PRAY, and Pray! God is the greatest physician. No prayer goes unanswered.
