Post Kidney infections

I am 21, and I have had a kidney infection 3 times in the last 3 years. Is that normal? Also, do kidney infections, and bladder infection have any thing to do with eachother? Because I have had a bladder infection like 4 or five times in the last 3 years.

Ok,
Third party info here. My daughter has had bladder and kidney infections almost one a year for almost all of her life.

She recently has stopped having them for 3 years in a row.

The reasons she gives me is that she did the following:

1. Started taking large doses of Vit- C-D and B Complex.
Also, Calcium,magnisium,potassium and Zinc.

2. Increased her water intake to 8 large glasses of water a day.

3. Drinks at least one large glass of crandberry juice a day (usually just before bed).

Now..she does not know which or if all of these are keeping the infections away. But she is not going to worry about it. She is going to continue this lifestyle untill she is proven wrong.

For a medical viewpoint, read the following: http://www.associatedurologists.com/uti.html

If that works I'm all over it. Can't hardly stand UTI's. Another word of advice, if you get a bladder infection (UTI) you need to get antibiotics ASAP b/c the infection can spread up into the kidneys and cause infection and further damage. Also, are you sexually active? Doctors have told me that sex can irritate the "urethra" (spelling?) So before and after sex urinate to clear anything that might be in there just waiting for some friction to start an infection. Also, lower your soft drink in take. Sometimes the residue from those drinks stays around a while and drink a ton of H20. Good luck!
