Post Chronic kidney pain

I have chronic but intermittent mild pain in right kidney area - only occurs first thing in the morning when I wake up then seems to wear off after a while and after drinking, only occasionally returning in daytime. I have microscopic hematuria and no other symptoms. Doctors haven't been able to pin this down despite CAT, IVP, etc. Does anyone else get this pattern of pain ie mainly first thing on waking in morning?

I had it from sleeping on a cold surface for a few weeks.
I got a heated mattress pad.
The only other recommendation I could give from a personal viewpoint is to increase your water intake and to be sure and go to the bathroom just before bed. BUT drink a glass of water just before bed also.
YOU should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. The more tea and coffee and drinks like coke that have caffine in them that you drink the more water you have to drink to offset the diuratic effect they have on your body.
So..sleep warmer,more water, less caffine.

P.S. Cut back on the beer and alcohol if you drink them.

Peace

Your doctors also need to check for protein, creatinine, and your BP. I'm not a professional but I had very similar problems and I was diagnosed with IgAN. Talk to a Nephrologist. Even the best of doctors haven't heard about my disease. I hope it al works out well.

I had the same symptoms that eventually got worse and finally got a nephrologist that would do a kidney biopsy last Feb. They found out that I had IgM nephropathy. It wasn't all in my head and you can have kidney pain and it not be muscular/skeletal, kidney infection, or a kidney stone. That is what I was told over and over. It was very frustrating getting a dx. There isn't much they can do about it. I drink only water and have gone to a vegetarian diet as animal protein is harder on the kidneys than vegetable protien. Hope you get some answers!

Re: Chronic kidney pain

this is a very old thread. Does anyone have any more info in this condition. I have been having the same symptoms. Started three days ago with pain in the kidneys in the morning. The pain does not subdue until i get up and get moving. Went to the doctor and i do have microscopic blood in my urine. Had a ct scan and they said i had two small cysts on my right kidney. The doctor said those cysts are not big enough to cause pain, and he believes my pain is muscolskeletral. I don't buy it. I had blood drawn today and haven't gotten the results back yet and i am getting an ultrasound of my kidney done tommorow. I am extremely worried about this, and don't won't to have to worry about it throughout the holidays. If anyone has any other information, it would be greatly appreciated.
