Question Upcoming Nephrectomy

I'm schedule to have my left kidney removed next week. The kidney is severely atrophied (due to a congenital kidney problem) and has been causing chronic pain and reoccurring kidney infections. Has anyone else had their kidney removed? Can you give me some pointers/advice/support?
Thanks.

I had my right kidney removed when I was a child, sounds like for the same reasons. The left kidney is fine, has compensated for the lost one, but that is probably because I was still growing.

I have since found out that people with one kidney should have a low protein diet. And my energy levels are lower than others. So I have an excuse to not to try to be superwoman!

Good luck and good health.
