I just had my first kidney stone about a month ago. I didn't go to the doctor until about a week after my initial pain, and he told me that it was already well along the path to being passed and should take no more than a week. About two weeks later I had passed nothing but a few blood clots, and all of a suddent one day I had some of the most intense pain in my life. It was so bad I couldn't hold anything in my stomach, not even water, so I went to the E.R. to get an IV to stop myself from getting dehydrated. I was really scared because it was supposed to be done already, but the doctor told me to just keep eating pills and give it time. About a week after that I finally passed it one day. Moral of the story -- it often takes a lot longer than the doctor initially thinks, and the only thing YOU can do is drink a LOT of water and give it time. You should be able to feel it passing into your bladder in some extent. Give it time.
