Operation on a PUJ obstruction

I am 22 years old and have been suffering with hydronephrosis for just over a year.
I will be having an operation to fix a PUJ obstruction (narrow ureter) within the next two months and would like to know a bit more about the procedure. I was given two options: one which involves major surgery and a large scar and one which involves entering the kidney through the back and pulling the ureter up using a small inflatable balloon and placing a stent inside afterwards. I chose the latter option although I believe it is slightly less likely to be succesful.
Has anyone had this operation? I hope I have all my details correct. Does anyone know a place where I could find more information?
