Post kidney pains

over the last 4 months or so i've been experiencing bad kidney pains. i went to the doctor and he said i was passing blood in my urine and this was the cause of my discomfort. he put me on a course of antibiotics which have failed to be effective. does anyone have any idea what this could be. my back is killing me i can barely walk. also, i don't know if this is relevant but over the last couple of years my physical endurance has gone rapidly down hill. i sleep constantly and have many other unpleasent symptoms.

Has your doctor recommended a CAT scan? Or a biopsy? Sounds like you need your doc to refer you to a nephrologist....if he doesn't help you--get a second oppinion. GOOD LUCK!
I too am having kidney problems....HIGH levels of creatnin in my blood work. Have they checked your blood? Keep us posted.....

Frank -
It sounds like it could be kidney stones. Some people get a lot of them, and if you can't pass them, they irritate the kidneys as well as the ureters leading from the kidneys to the bladder, or the bladder and the urethra, thus the blood.

The antibiotics will keep you from getting an infection, but they won't solve the main problem if it's stones. I think you should definitely see a nephrologist without delay.

Hi,

If you do have kidney stones, they you may have to undergo a lithotrypsy to clear them.

A lot of kidney stones are caused by calcium oxylate, so will need to try and change a few things in your diet to prevent a recurrence of them.
