Question HELP! I don't know what's going on...

OK, here goes....
I am having a lot of pain in my right abdomen. It feels like I got punched up under my ribs. It also hurts down by my hip and I'm sure that the hip pain I'm having is referred pain. I have ended up in the ER twice from this. The pain in my lower R abd. is pretty constant & will get very sharp. I don't have an appendix or gallbladder so that's not the problem. The pain under my ribs is usually a dull pain that gets sharp, like you're being poked, and it radiates to my back. I also had an ultrasound that said there was free fluid in my abdomen.
I am on a lot of medications, should I ask my doctor about doing liver function tests? Is there anything else I can do to relieve the pain?? I'm so tired of taking pain meds all the time.
Thanks,
Tammy

I am a Medical Technologist (I run those blood tests). I definiftely think you should have liver function testing done, and probably consult a gastroenterologist.

You may inquire about pancreantitis as well. My step daughter had the same symptoms and that is what she was diagnosed with finally. She has to watch her diet and can not drink alcohol.
