Hi everyone...I recently donated some blood. I received a letter saying that they could not accept my blood. They ran some test and said that my liver enzymes were too high. My questions are....what is the normal level? And how can I get it back to normal. I don't drink alcohol...I work out all the time. I don't have any form of hepatitis or any other virus or disease. I donated blood last year during the crisis and nothing was wrong with me then. I looked up the definition but couldn't find out what a normal level is. Any information that can be given would be greatly appreciated!!! Or, if anybody is going through the same thing that I am and have some advice or want to talk....that would work too. I'm afraid I can't answer your question as to what the normal levels are as each vary. But I can suggest eating a lot of Muesli grain, drinking loads of water (especially with a squeeze of lemon), and getting hold of some Milk thistle tablets. They do help in cleansing the Liver and balancing yoru Liver enzymes.

Hi,

The normal values for liver enzymes are as follows:-

BILIRUBIN 3 - 20 umol/l

ALKALINE PHOSPHATE 42 - 141 IU/l

ALKALINE TRANSFERASE (ALT) 5 - 35 IU/l

GAMMA GLUTAMYL TRANSFERASE (GTP) 5 - 29 IU/l

I hope this helps, but remember, if your tests were ok before, then it could always be a false result. If you are concerned, why not go and see your doc and get him to take bloods for you?
