Question changes in monthly period

hello,

i am 46 years old and have been experiencing premenoposal changes for about 6 years. I was wondering if anyone has ever had changes in their monthly period. I call it monthly but acctualy have it every 3 weeks.
My last 2 though have started suddenly and the discharge is a very bright red. I dont take any meds....maybe i should have a checkup.

Hi. I'm 42, and have had symptoms for years, too. I've gone shorter cycles which is normal for us in our forties to either go shorter or longer. I also bleed at half-time, and I have started a funny red color, like you. Reminds me of marachino cherries, or maybe it's brighter than that (can't remember exactly what marachinos look like). Anyway, last month I finally made it to the doctor, and outside of a cyst on my ovary which he didn't really comment on and some uterine lining buildup (from not ovulating), he said everything turned out normal. Tomorrow I start on low-dose birth control pills to get me regulated again.
