Post New - Need Help with Symptoms

Hi,

I am new to this board and glad to have found it.

I am 50 years old and have been experiencing perimenopause symptoms for a couple of years. My doctor suggested low dose birth control pills about 1 year ago to control some of the symptoms that I was experiencing and they seem to have helped.

I am now experiencing a tingling or pins and needles sensation as well as some mild aches and pains in my arms and legs and wonder if anyone else has had similar symptoms associated with menopause.

I also suffer from mild anxiety disorder so with anything new like this I tend to get anxious that it could be something serious.

I would like to know if anyone else has had similar symptoms.

Thanks

Anne

Hi there, Clone. Okay, so we're 8 years apart. But I've started low-dose bc pills for irregular bleeding/ovarian cysts this month. I started tingling in my hands and feet, especially while asleep or just lying down on my bed since maybe Oct. It's finally improving to where it's not so bad. I sometimes wake up with the numbness, but at least now it doesn't wake me up throughout the night like it did over and over.

I also have an anxiety disorder. Not so bad since I've been on BuSpar. I went through the what's-wrong-with-me-must-be-MS for a while, although I know it can be menopause symptoms. Also think it may be fibromyalgia symptoms since I have almost all of the tender spots, fatigue and muscle achiness as well as IBS at times and sometimes low blood sugar symptoms.

I mentioned the tingling to the gyno and he said he may have to send me on to a neurologist, but haven't been back there, yet, and really don't see the point. Haven't been back to my family doctor to tell him it hasn't gone away. He said he hoped it went away in time, like he hoped it was some anxiety symptom. Well, my anxiety isn't a problem right now, and it's still tingling. I don't really have any answers for you or me, just want to let you know there are others like us out there.

Hi CM

Thanks for the support. It is good to know that you are not alone in this. Sounds like we are on the same wavelength. Those are the same two diseases that I was imagining.

FYI, I did find some info on another site that mentioned sometimes if you increase your Calcium and Vitamin B12 intake that might help.

works before I run to the doctors with yet another symptom for her to figure out and then tell me it is probably anxiety.

This getting old is for the birds!

Thanks again and take care.

Question

I would like to know if anyone can help me with the mood swings associated with what I think is premenapuse. The mood swings are probably the worst thing so far i have had to deal with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is an old post but just wanted to say that I'm 45, will be 46 in Nov. and I feel basically the same way. I believe that the tingling, pricky feelings, hot/cold, etc. are all due to hormonal changes during perimenopause or postmeno. I think we just make it worse because we get anxious about it and it makes have an anxiety/panic attack. But remember, even when you're having a hot flash/flush, you will feel as though at times you're having an anxiety or panic attack.
