Question SURGICAL MENOPAUSE?

Hello,
I'm 28yrs old and I had a hysterectomy in May,2000 due to chronic pelvic pain, sevear bleeding, and an 11yr history of endometriosis. I kept both ovaries in hope's to avoid menopause at such a young age, but now I am going in on 1-8-01 to have them removed due to tumors, cyst's, and endometriosis.
I am terrifyed(sp?) at the hormonal changes my body is going to go through. My gyn say's I will be able to start hormones right away, but will they take effect right away? Just how bad is menopause?........Any advice or words of wisdom would be appreicated, thank you so much in advance.

Trish

Hi Trish,
I had a Total Abdominal Hyst w/ovaries on May 21,'99 because of SEVERE chronic pelvic pain from Endometriosis/Adenomyosis. I am now 31. Email me directly at Minisb1@aol.com and I will be happy to talk with you.

Trish,

So grateful to see your post. I too am scheduled for surgery on the same day that you are. Please fill me in on any info you have recieved as I am just now starting my research. I have a 5 year history of endo and poly-cystic ovaries. It's all to go on the 8th. I am so scared as well. Any info from anyone would be greatly appeciated.

I, too, had a TAH and lost both ovaries at the age of 29. I started hormones in the recovery room. You may e-mail me privately and we can talk if you wish.

Hi Trish:

I too suffered the same way you have with Endometriosis at an early age. I had a total hysterectomy at age 24 in which I was thrown into an early menopause.

I'm going to be honest with you, it is going to be rough for a few years. I am now 35 and it has gotten better as long as I take my hormones everyday. If I miss just one day, I can tell.

If you want to talk more about this. Please email me at palarin@email.com.

Good luck to you.......Marie
