Post Wellbutrin, Zyprexa and Alcohol

Okay, I've got a couple of questions here so if anyone could answer them I would greatly appreciate it.

First, I know that it's extremely dangerous to consume alcohol while taking Wellbutrin. Does anyone know how long you should be off of it before it is safe to drink?

Also, my doctor just prescribed me Zyprexa for sleeping problems that I've been having. Have any of you taken this for sleep and did it help? Also, what were some of your side-effects. I have read up on this drug and the side-effects lists are nerve wrecking. Does the positive outcomes outweight the bad for you?

Thanks,
Larissa

Just limit your alcohol intake. I personally never had a problem with 2 or 3 drinks while on Wellbutrin. I'm not a regular drinker, so if you aren't either, it shouldn't be dangerous. Try searching to find other advice if you still feel shaky about drinking.

Thanks for your reply. I've just heard a lot about seizures with Wellbutrin and it kinda scares me. I'm not a heavy drinker. Just occasionally on holidays. I just wanted some reassurance that it's safe for a couple of sips.

I took Welbutrin <sp> to stop smoking and had no problems with it. My husband took it to stop tobacco as well and he had terrible mood swings while taking it and stopped taking it because of how it made him feel.

I am taking Zyprexa now and the only side effect I have had is weight gain, but it certainly helped me to sleep.

If you are taking both of these medications daily, I would suggest not drinking alcohol at all.

After repeatedly reading the patient information sheet, I decided against drinking while taking this medicine. I talked to my pharmacist and he says that the only way to assure that it's safe to drink with Wellbutrin is to not take it for two weeks so that it is cleared out of your system. I cannot afford to stop this medication right now so I'm not going to be drinking anytime soon.

Thanks for the replies. As for anyone else who has the same question as I did, do not drink with it. It has very bad adverse effects on your system.

Thanks,
Larissa
