Post Taking meds but only makes thoughts into whispers instead of shouts

Currently on Effexor for over a year. In process of changing Dr. Hard to find a therapist that I feel "gets me". Currently unemployed and not motivated to do anything. Should go back to school. Also have had may surgeries/procedures in last 2 yrs. Why get my mind fixed if the body is still sick? Family says snap out of it. If I could I would been depressed since I was 13 now in my 30s. Sleep is the only peace I get and that is not always so...the unconcious can be more cruel than the waking mind.
Any hope????

Try reading posts/ posting on the Obsessions and & OCD board. Many on that board discuss their problems with mind chatter, voices, etc. as well as depression. I am not implying in any way that you have OCD; I am merely suggesting that the OCD board may be a good place to find persons who are in situations similar to yours. Good luck!

Hi Hanginon

Read your posted message and wanted to reply to it. I know that there are a lot of new medications out there for you which can help you.

Perhaps you could talk with your psdoc and see if he would be willing to try you on some of them. I have found out hanginon that a lot of times you have to really speak up and let them know if the med you are on isn't working for you.

My daughter was on this one med for awhile and it did not cover all the symptons she had. I went on the internet and searched for the sites that give you information about various medications and found a lot of newer ones.

Well her psdoc tried the one that I had seen and bingo it now does seems to be helping her a lot. So what I am suggesting to you, is don't give up, go on line if you have to and do some searching. Than talk to your psdoc and see if he/she can't try you on some of these.

Remember too, what works for one person may not work for another. You really have to try and see which one is going to work for you. That is all I can suggest to you hangonin

Best wishes to you.
