Question afriend

I have a friend with ms and he is difficult to deal with. Kind of hateful. I don't discuss it with him unless he brings it up and then I just listen. Sometimes I feel that he doesn't realize how hard this disease is on the people who love the victim. Any suggestions on how to handle this? What do I do? I have access to health information but he is so negative that I hesitate to bring it up.
