Post What do you do with all the stuff?

What do you guys do with all the "stuff" that goes along with having MS? What do you do with the needles and pills?

Just curious

Good question. I had to call my doctor to find out where to dispose of the needles and he suggested going to the pharmacy and puchasing one of those plastic red bins that they use in their offices to dispose of the needles. When I asked at the pharmacy, the Phamacist told me to use an empty, plastic detergent bottle. Made sense to me. I still unscew the needles and put them in the syringe, upside down, and then put the plunger back in, then I put them in the tide bottle. Any leftover pills that I can't take, or react badly to, or don't react at all.....etc. my pharmacist will safely dispose of them for me.

Wow, Tammy, that seems like a lot to do with your needles! I guess that the steps that you're taking with them are prudent given that a detergent bottle is not designed specifically for sharps, though. Anyhow, I don't think that this process would be good for someone who has problems with their fine motor skills; It's much easier to drop a syringe/needle combo straight into a sharps container right after use. Good info about the leftover meds! I had just been flushing mine down the toilet, but in retrospect that isn't such a hot idea. Antibiotic resistant bugs in the sewers, anyone? :-(

Hi Muffin, I was able to purchase a sharps container from my pharmacy. Only
I bend my needles before disposing of them so no one else can use them. There
are alot of strange people out there who
would. As for my pills I flush them.
Probably not a good idea, but I don"t
know what else to do.My pharmacist won"t
take them back.

Maybe your pharmacist will take them back if they're in the sharps container? It seems to me that it's all medical waste. In any case, I'd think it's worth asking.
