OPMD

I would love to hear from anyone with OPMD. HOw quickly did your symptoms progress, and what are your symptoms now? Have you found that any particular exercises have helped etc.? Any advice or info will be greatly appreciated.

My husband has been recently diagnosed with OPMD and I would really appreciate if anyone knows of a doctor in Manhattan, NY that specialises or has handled cases.

Hi Hilaary sorry to hear that someone else has to deal with this disease. My husband has it as did family members going back many generations. Dr. Drachman with Johns Hopkins it to be the [QUOTE]expert in eastern U.S. He seems to be into research more than treatment. Maybe because there isn"t much to be done except treat the symptoms as they show up. You don"t say how old your husband is but Dr. Drachman told us opmd is agood md since most syptoms aren't bad until advanced old age.
