Unhappy Do These Symptoms Match a Disease?

Hi Folks,

I need your help to try to understand what the heck is going on with me. Please let me know if your thoughts on this. Here is what has been happening:

- muscle loss in face started a few months back. Face seems to be getting thinner week by week.
- not able to run (was able to even a month ago). legs just don't have any go to them. Can still walk at the moment.
- some slight GI problems starting about a month ago.
- am able to lift weight, though lower legs (particular right leg) hurt afterwards
- no signs of tingling or twitching
- initial bloodwork by Doc. showed ESR of 5, WBC 4,700 (70/22/8).

Prior to this I was fine:

- weight is pretty much the same (188 vs. 185)
- I have been fit (running, lifting) for dozens of years without ever having any problems.

From doing Internet searches thought it may be Myotonic Dystrophy or Myasthenia Gravis. Then was wondering if it is some kind of intestinal bug. Right now I am confused.

Perhaps my symptoms aren't to the point where things can be sorted out. I am very concerned though since things have progressed somewhat fast. I have an appt with a Gastro-Intern, though think I should see a neuro asap.

Does the above though sound like any thing?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have myasthenia gravis. Your symptoms sound a bit like it, but not totally. Do you have vision, swallow, or speech problems? Without those, you likely DON'T have MG.

I would definitely see a neuro ASAP!

Hi Kiki,

I have had occasional blurriness and also some problems swallowing; though have not noticed any speech problems.

Which of the above symptoms that I listed seem like MG? Also, how did you get diagnosed? That is, was there something that stood out that was noticeable to both you and your doctor?

Thanks!
