Post muscle twitching & jerks

I have been having hese muscle twitches (fasciculations) almost constantly now. It's the worst at night when I'm trying to get to sleep and I can sense everything so easily. I can feel slight twitching in several areas. It's almost like a vibrating sensation and it can be in isolated areas or feel like it's happening over large sections like my abdomen or back, etc. Sometimes my whole body just jerks suddenly or it can be mild where the bed moves. It makes it extremely difficult to get any rest. I know it's not my heart racing - it's definitely muscular. I have no pain associated w/this, but at times during the day when I feel this way I get a feeling of whobbliness & weakness. I covet anybody's input. Thanks.

I often get restless leg syndrome when I'm trying to go to sleep. It's caused by drinking Coca-Cola too late in the evening. It's the caffeine in the Coke that's the culprit. I also get restless leg syndrome and other muscle twitches if I take Benadryl, sinus headache medication, decongestants, or cough syrup. I can't remember what the name or names of the chemical is that's common to those medications. It might have been phenylpropanolamine. Dextromethorphan also does it to me. I also got the twitches when I ate or drank something that had a particular chemical in it, but I can't remember the name of the chemical (might have ended in ephedrine) or the food or drink that it was in. Sorry if this hasn't been much help. You should probably see a doctor.

Hi David,
I also have been having a lot of muscle twitches lately and you're right, it is hard to get any sleep when this is happening. I had a bunch of tests done last week and oodles of blood drawn but haven't been told too much of anything yet. Oh yeah, I also had a muscle biopsy done. Ouch! Not only are my muscles twitching but seem to be hardening or thickening as well. Not much fun. How are you doing?
