Question Removal of Titanium hardware

I had a cervical disectomy w/fusion at the c5-c6 level in Oct. of 1999. In October of 2000 I had 3 lumbar discs w/fusion and a posterior foratomy w/fusion at all levels. Last week when I thought I would be released to go back to work, I was told that My plates had slipped at the c4-c5 level and I would have to have another anterior cervical disectomy to remove the old plate and put in a new one. I was ready to be released from the hospital when I was told that as soon as this anterior surgery healed that I would have to have another posterior surgery because I had a plate and screw that were completely out and just lying there and that all of the hardware would have to be removed. I did everything that I was told and do not understand how this could happen. Could someone please help me????????????
