Post Numbness in hands

For years I have experienced a cold left hand after any aerobic activity. No MD could figure it out. I finally went to a chiropractor and he took an Xray and said I had no curvature in my neck probably due to a rear-ender many years before. His manipulations only exacerbated the problem and I was not good at sitting with a weighted sling over a door to stretch my neck. I now often wake with both hands numb and then they tingle. Does anyone else experience this and what have they done to alleviate the problem. I do not have carpal tunnel. I got a special pillow which doesn't seem to help much. I take yoga as often as I can. Ideas?

It could be many things. Your best bet is to go to a neurologist instead of a chiropractor. Many things can make your body parts numb but tingling is a sign of a nerve problem somewhere. Does it only happen when you sleep? How old are you? Do you take any other medications or have any other medical conditions? How often does it happen? Is there anything that relieves it? Is it only in your hands? All these questions would have an effect on what it could/couldn't be.

I have noticed the same things, except it's usually my whole arm, sometimes both of them. It happens only at night (I have to sleep on my back since sleeping on my side starts the numbness) and sometimes it will wake me up. I haven't seen a doctor yet but I know I need to. I am 37, female, very active, in great shape and have thought it was just due to poor circulation. The tingling goes away after I stand up and let my arms hang by my side. It's predominately on my right arm and it's happening more and more often. Any input would be great.
