Paxil is proscribed for general anxiety disorder, which is certainly what you described with sudden attacks coming on. Though I do not have the disorder, I expirienced many of the syptoms while going through a rough period (sometimes it can be a short-lived response to trauma). Basically, those afflicted get these sudden bouts of racing heart, clammy hands, hyperventilation, and sometimes vision distortion or even faiting. The attacks can come on when in public places, the afflicted may feel "judged", like everyone is looking at them, or the reson may be unknown. The only thing you can do is be understanding. Telling him you love and accept him is the best medicine possible. Getting him to talk about it more with you so you can help him can do nothing but good
