Question dating someone with phobias

Hi, I was wondering if there is anyone out there that could help me understand why someone with phobias do the things they do.

I was wondering if this person you are dating is taking any medication for his or her phobia's. If they aren't on any mediacation maybe they need to be. I suffer from depression and I know as well as my family that if I don't take my medication everyone around me suffers along with me. I hope you don't think I sounded rude because I didn't mean to. I wish you the best of luck with your relationship.

Hi, Soni you did not sound rude at all. In fact I thank you for responding. He is on paxil and a couple others that I don't know the name of.
I try really hard to understand, If I question things that he does, He says it gets to him. Sometimes I can tell when he is having an attack lets call it, His palms will become sweaty and his hands will shake. After that he is in the restroom for a good 15mins.
What I am after is, how do I get to understand where he is comming from if I can't ask questions???
Not much info that I have found on the net about phobias.
Please post any ideas you may have. thanks for your time.

Paxil is proscribed for general anxiety disorder, which is certainly what you described with sudden attacks coming on. Though I do not have the disorder, I expirienced many of the syptoms while going through a rough period (sometimes it can be a short-lived response to trauma). Basically, those afflicted get these sudden bouts of racing heart, clammy hands, hyperventilation, and sometimes vision distortion or even faiting. The attacks can come on when in public places, the afflicted may feel "judged", like everyone is looking at them, or the reson may be unknown. The only thing you can do is be understanding. Telling him you love and accept him is the best medicine possible. Getting him to talk about it more with you so you can help him can do nothing but good
