Unhappy 2 1/2 boy and ADHD or OCD, worried!!

Hi, For the past month or 2, my 2 1/2 year old son has been displaying behavior that concerns us. At times, not all the time, he does something tiwce or three times. For example, he gets in a chair to eat
but he gets out of it and gets on it again. Or last night, he sat on the floor twice before I was about to pick him up to show him something. Also he sat on the floor twice before we started playing soccer in the basement. He has no medical problems. He has a cousin with quetionable Tourette Syndrome/Hyperactivity. I have an Aunt that we suspected OCD for the last 40 years, and my wife's brother with some undiagnosed mental problems. Other than these, family history is OK. Please help.

hello, I can identify with you concerns because I had an 18 month old that was causing such concern, and a whole lot more. We held out and observed for another few years and he was finally dx in 3rd grade w/ ADHD. Looking back, I am glad that we did not jump on things any sooner, even though he is a pretty extremem case. He does take meds but happy to report that he is a highest honor student (after being a very poor student early in elementary), an outstanding citizen in his school and a state champion in the sport that he competes in. I'd say, hold out and lovingly give him guidance, unless you see something real bizzare. Little ones can repeat things just for the fun of repeating them. Hang in there! Good luck.

Since he is only 2 1/2, I wouldn't be too concered. He is a little to young to be diagonsed with ADHD. Have you talked to your peditrican about this?
