Question T Scores

I am a 46 year old female. I had a Dexa scan and my T scores are hips -2.1
spine -2.9, -3.3, -2.9, two other scores were still with in normal range. (The spine T scores were on the lower back.) I was told that I am much to young to have these scores.
I have read other messages that say, don't do heavy lifting. Don't bend at the waste.
And don't fall down. Would these rules apply to me. My grandson is 5 years old and weights 52 pounds. Can I still pick him up?
When I asked my doctor if there were things I shouldn't do, he replied with, 'don't drink, stop smoking and do exercise.' I was hoping for a more detailed answer.
Can anyone give me some helpful advice?
I just started taking Miacalcin and Actonel.

Hello....in response to your question about lifting your grandson, I would use caution when doing it as any sudden lifting can cause a compression fracture...i just recently had this happen to me, but thank goodness it was only a small compression compared to the ones I have had in the past (which were not lifting related !) It sounds as though you are on the right track with your meds.. Make sure you get about 1500mg of calcium with vit. D every day. weight bearing exercise such as walking is helpfull too. You need to research osteoporosis as much as you can as knowledge is power when it comes to fighting this disease. As for your age, I am only 39 and have known for 3 years that I have Osteoporosis...dont know how long I have actually had it as i learned of it when I got a compression fracture of unknown orgin. Good luck and i hope this helps you some.
