Question didrocal

Can anyone tell me experiences with the drug didrocal or actonel! Which side effect!
Nausea? Bloating? Abdominal pain? Weight gain?
Your reply would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

Re: didrocal

I had didrocal for + 2 years, I was geting dizzy spells at first off and on, about 1 1/2 years ago I was dizzy all the time and was not able to be up and around, so I had to stay in bed for a while. After a while I tried getting up I but felt so lousy and still dizzy. My hair started to fall out, cramps in my legs, had shooting pains in my fingers and toes and whereever it wanted to jab me, memory loss,
drooling when I layed down, trouble breathing, and oh so tired. I went off didrocal (after I researched it on the web) and now 7 months later I can say I am so much better.
I told my dr. about going off didrocal and he put me on actonel, what a disaster that was, the first pill I took my neck got sore in the afternoon, and not a little sore, the 2nd. pill the same, the 3d. pill all my bones and joints and wrist were so painfull, I couldn't lift anything with my hands. I went off that one too and now I am
back to just about normal. I'm scared to try anything else, these meds. have taken 1 1/2 years out of my life, so be carefull when you take it. paxton

Re: didrocal

I just started on Didrocal. After the first pill my lower back started to hurt. I put the pain down to back strain caused by moving furniture. We had a tremendous snow fall two days ago and I was out shoveling snow yesterday. I took white pill #4 last night. This morning, I could bearly move my back hurt so much. I'm considering stopping the pills and getting back to normal and then trying them again. Do you think this would be a wise course of action?

Re: didrocal

Hello all and welcome to the board . I took actenol for a 2 months before i decided it wasn't the path i wanted to take to get better bone density. I was ok for a few weeks then my eyes got extremely dry and gritty feeling and i felt like i had a lump in my throat. That was enough for me. Within a couple of weeks both were gone. I was never 100% for the idea of taking it in the first place, so stopping it and starting strontium citrate were the right things for me to do.

If you feel this bad after a few pills i wonder how you would feel after its had time to really get into your system. Is this taken daily or weekly? Both moving furniture and showeling snow are hard on the body, but you've probably done both before with no major aches and pains afterwards. Right? I don't know about the stopping and starting, but it would give you an answer one way or the other and a starting point to go further on. I think the main thing you can do on your quest for better density is to the find the treatment that works best for you and one that you can live with. takc care...phyllis

Re: didrocal

Didrocal is taken daily so I've only been on the stuff for 4 days. I ended up making a long distance call to my sister, the nurse. She suggested stopping and going back to the Doctor. I could always start again if my only problem is back strain. Fortunately the snow is melting again. I'll have a chat with my Doctor about the "Strontium Citrate" you mentioned. Thanks for replying.
