Question calcium is causing kidney problems..HELP!

I have severe osteoporosis, am 42 years old today. My birthday is june 29 by the way. LOL..anyway my gyn doctor tells me i need 1500mg of calcium a day..I tried taking this dosage, and even a lesser dosage..But everytime i take any CALCIUM, i get kidney problems like infections or build up of calcium in the kidneys. I tried then yet other RXs, actonel, evista, miacalcin, fosamax, which the docs took me off of since
they caused alot of problems with side effects. I exercise frequently and have a diet that has some calcium in it..If i ingest dairy products, the same thing happens to my kidneys. I found no allergies to dairy though when i went to an allergist. This is wierd! So how can i protect my bones? I am already on HRT for perimenopause, but this is not enough..i still get aching, popping, snapping bones..I should be the cereal "rice crispies". I believe maybe the calcium is not absorbing correctly in my body, even when i take vitamin C. Is there a way to get calcium into my bones? This absorption problem is so hard on my kidneys..HELP!

Unhappy

Sorry to hear of your problems. I too have severe diffuse osteoporosis plus i have only 1 kidney functioning at 70% due to chemotherapy sideeffects. Anyway, have you tried the oral supplement of Viactiv, they provide 500mg each of calcium, are usually taken 3/day and come in all wonderful flavors. They taste like carmels and are just a wonderful supplement! check with your doctor about these.good luck!! heartlite
