Talking osteoporosis in a 25 year old

Hi my stepdaughter is an athelete (track) and now she has the bones of a 60 year old woman and has to take Fosamax. Does anyone have any experience with this in such a young woman; she is afraid of the Fosamax because she wants to have children in the next few years and is afraid that Fosamax will have bad effects on her reproductive organs-- any insights are appreciated.
thanks

Hi Martha: thanks for you input; my stepdaughter had bloodwork and all of those things and doesn't have a parathyroid adenoma. she went to a really lousy doctor and decided to try and find another doctor, which she did. This doctor has worked with young women with osteoporosis, primarily atheletic women. This doctor told her there are other drugs besides Fosamax and hopefully she will get on a good program now. Take care
Marilyn
