Thumbs up Fosamax works!

I just had my second bone density test after being on Fosamax for one year and my spine has improved from -2.3 to -1.9, and my hips have improved from -2.6 to -2.3. I know a lot of people have given up on Fosamax, but I urge you to keep trying. Even if you take Actonel, please try to keep taking it. I also do weight training, jump rope and dance. I am on Prempro and it is possible that all of the above have helped too. There is hope for us who don't want to have a dowager's hump and painful disability in our later years. I am 50. Has anyone else shown improvement on this drug?

I had my 2nd bone density test after having been on
Fosamax for about 6 mos. I went from being just on
the osteoporosis side of the line to just on the
other side away from it! So it seems to be working
for me. I also take 2 vit. D 400 IU and 3 Tums EX
daily. I don't exercise as much as I should, only occasionally (BAD, I know!!). Don't have any side
effects either.

I too have been on 80mg weekly dose of fosamax for the past year and will be having my blood and urine tests in 2 weeks. previously I was on fosamax daily tabs and had great improvement, the tablets where stopped for 2 years and it was not until my bone density started to drop off again that i was put back on it. I was told that the fosamax sticks like glue to your bones after you have been taking it for about a year and then usually lasts for about 2 years before you need to go back on it. I have had no side effects from taking it and much prefer the weekly dose rather than taking it everyday. I too feel sorry for the people who are having trouble with it.
