Question Only 26 and on Fosamax.....

Hello, I am new here and I was just wondering if any of you are on Fosamax. I have been on it for a month now and am wondering if any of you had any side effects from it?? Is there weight gain with it. I have three children and they are 4,3 and 2. Could having them so close together have caused my bones to thin out so much?? I have thining in my hips and wrists and i have a fracture in my spine..T-7 to be exact. I am so scared that having this so early, I will not be able to enjoy my children or my life later in my 40's or 50's. I have severe pain in my back and hips...my hips when i sleep(on my sides) does anyone else have this pain when they sleep?? Sorry this is so long but I just found this site and I am scared to death...someone(not a friend just an aquaintance)that you can die from this, is that true??? I feel like I am 90yrs old now how much worse can this get??? Thank you in advance for your help and info....it is appreciated.

i thought you mite like to know..i spoke with merck ..they make fosamax..it was trialed and approved for treatment of bone loss in post menopausal women..so altho it it not contraindicated for women who are still getting their periods..the safety of fosamax for use in women that are not post menopausal has not been established....

Melissa,
You really should talk with your Dr. about this. I know a few young people who have joint problems that are caused by arthritis or lupus or even allergies. There are several things that can be done for whichever it may be so you won't have to suffer and feel like a 90 yr old! Good Luck to you. Vickie
