Thumbs up adderall vs adderall xr

My husband was diagnosed with ADD 2.5 yrs ago. At that time he was started on Adderall with a huge improvement. However, as time passed, he began having an increase in side-effects. He had a

1. change in urination-he would feel the sudden urge to urinate to the point it was painful.
2. increased mood swings and emotional lability.
3. feel himself coming off and crash as the effects wore off, so he would find himself redosing to maintain the effects.
4. feel "speeded up" when on it.

Then he heard about Adderall XR. The difference is amazing:
1. urination back to normal
2. decreased mood swings, emotionally stable
3. no peak-crash effect or feeling of being speeded up
4. lasts longer because it is "extended release"

Warning- alcohol is a depressent and will counteract the effects of Adderall and cause you to "crash" and become aggravated and ancy.

Adderall XR has been a great help to my husband, recommend asking your doctor about it-it is new and not all physicians have heard of it.

Adderall XR mearly means it is extended release adderall. I find it hard to believe that urinary problem was connected to Adderall since he is still taking adderall but just in a different form. Many drugs are now coming out in extended release forms which is great since you don't have to take so many pills in one day. Your note about alcohol and drugs is always timely since many people tend to mix alcohol and prescription medications.........especially psychotropic medications such as adderall, Zoloft, Paxil and others. Glad the extended release dose is working so well.
