Unhappy Anyone having problems with 9/11?

I know it has been about 2 years and there was nothing I could do but I still feel terrible about 9/11. I have nightmares and find myself getting misty when I think about it enough. What should I do?

HI Thomas!

I had a terrible time with 9/11. I had major panic attacks, my health deteriorated, I obsessed over it and worried constantly about my health and well being ans well as others. I always wondered what next? Then Anthrax! Yikes!

I have been to therapy and am now on zoloft and xanax for about 8 months. I have to say, I am so glad I did. I feel like my normal happy self again. No worries, no sadness. I still think of it, but don't worry or obsess anymore.

Good Luck!

Kim

I am still very effected by it. Seeing the towers in pictures still brings me to tears everytime. I lived in New Jersey most of my life and the towers were a truly an everyday fixture . When I was a kid everytime my family went to visit my Aunt and Auncle in Manhattan my cousins and I would sit on the stairs and gaze at the towers for hours at a time. They seem to go right into the heavens and we would always wonder what it was like to stand on top of them. I recently saw a picture of the top of the towers peering through the clouds and all I could think about was those days with my cousins on the stairs.. That one picture lingers in my dreams and in my mind.. I don't think there is a problem with this at all. If there is any one real reason to be depressed and paranoid about it is 9.11.2001. I know I can never forget it even if I tried!

I'm still bothered. Funny, just last week my hubby gently suggested that I "see" someone to talk. I don't obsess over it, but I still have nightmares.

I think it doesn't help that I have a good friend/neighbor who, whenever I see him, it's a reminder of that horrible day. He moved here from NY 5 years ago and still kept in touch w/his buddies up in NYC. On Sept. 9th, he asked if I could watch his dogs in November because his best friend was getting married up there.

He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. In October, I watched his dogs while he attended his friend's memorial service up in NY.
