Exclamation Dr. Lieberman and non approved drugs

Because we have discussed some of these drugs on the old board, I thought it would be interesting to share Dr. L's opinion about using these drugs to treat PD. "if you don't know how it works don't take it." He had a strong opinion about not using the nicotine patch. He also didn't recommend taking antioxidant vitamins, Co enzyme 10 and really any over the counter drugs for treating PD. He believes it is a waste of your money and because these drugs havn't been subjected to long term studies, their may be harmful side effects that are not presently known and make your condition worse. Bruce-
I just finishsed reading Dr. Lieberman's Q/As, too. I always seem to be on your heels, Bruce. I think Dr. L's answers were very wise; many people waste money to take alternatives which may duplicate in varying degrees therapy they are already using and/or have had adverse reactions to. Send that same money to fund research!! He also had a rather strong opinion as to which foundation got the most research done for the buck - the NPF.
IMHO-
Everyone should remmeber that all substances we put into our bodies have a chemical reaction; food is a chemcal. One thing I DO indulge in is lots of cleansing distilled water (no chemicals.) I NEED to improve in the area of exercise. I sent off for a free book on just that today (from NPF). http://www.parkinson.org/fitness.htm
