MY RANT for the day!!
I spent THREE hours (yes, I meant to shout!) waiting in line to get a flu shot tonight. My feet were in spasms as I gimped off at the end and it took hours at home in agony before the spasms died down. It felt like giant snakes were writhing in my feet - pythons - and to look at my feet, you'd never know anything was going on!
On the positive side, I made some new friends, standing in line, and my body didn't betray my condition until I had to walk (gimp) away (after taking a step at a time for THREE hours!!) I'm sure there were some big eyes when I whipped out my Medicare card instead of $10! The grandma behind me didn't even have one yet! I heard of some people in line who were really in agony by the end; one with lupis, one had just had a radiation treatment.... I kept quiet. It was nice to know no one could tell I had anything!!
On the down side again, my husband and I missed our $50 dinner (so much for the "free" shot). My DH was not upset. He had told me to take as long as it took. I had called him from the parking lot, a little worried that everyone in town looked like they were there, trying to find a parking place (they were!). We were using one car today and he had to make an emergency trip to KC earlier. Getting there earlier wouldn't have made a difference in the length of the line. It was even longer earlier in the day. My "new friends" told me they'd been there once already and you couldn't even get thru the door. I just feel for the ONE poor nurse who had to stand there even longer, giving these shots. They may have used most of their vaccine tonight; I heard tomorrow's line is in doubt.
The shots have been so scarce; this was the first mass line in our town (and maybe the last). I haven't seen the likes since the polio lines I went thru in the 50s!
Has anyone else had such a time with this vaccine this year?
The year of recounts and the flu shot lines; I should make tee-shirts!

p.s. Thanks for letting me RANT! I don't do it too often!!
