Question Switching from Concerta SR to Adderall XR?

It seems the general medical concenus (but I'm still doing my homework) that my 9 1/2 year old needs a med change as the effects of the Concerta are increasingly minimal. Anyone had experience switching from concerta to adderall? and?

thx

They're both stimulants so the adderall might work for awhile but eventually it'll stop being effective. Many times one person will respond well to one but not the other. Some doctors will just alternate stimulants..... ritalin for a couple months then when it no longer works switch to adderall then when that stops working go back to ritalin and so on.

I would encourage you to try natural products or non-stimulants but we already talked about that.

I have a personal bias against giving children amphetamines. My brother used Ritalin for 10 years and it never helped him, what it did do is make him violent and agressive. Its a wonder he made it to 27 without going to prison. While he was on the medicine he was fine, but due to insurance etc... he came off the medicine 10x more violent than before. I didn't take my first Adderall till I was 31.
You seriously should investigate strattera before making your final decision. It is not a controlled substance and from what my Dr.'s have told me it is better for children than for adults.
