Post infection from colposcopy/biopsy?????

In December, my pap smear came back abnormal. Then I found out that I have HPV. My gynocologist performed a colposcopy on me and found warts on my cervix. He then performed a biopsy so he could test the cells. It has been 11 days since the procedure and I bled the first few days and then it stopped. Now however, I have a lot of discharge and a VERY foul fishy odor down there!!! I am so disgusted!!! Could I have an infection from the procedure? What is happening to me? I am very scared!!!

"VERY foul fishy odor down there" can be normal. When I had the biopsy done it smelled bad. But to be on the safe side go to see you doctor. Because it is possible that an infection has developed.

I had my abnormal pap smear come back in September 1999. I went in for a repeat pap which also came back abnormal. So they had me go in for a colposcopy in December 1999 where they ended up doing a leep during that time. I wasn't totally aware of what was going on until I was in there which helped because I didnt have to worry about it for a while before it happened. But I bled for a couple of days but after that I had a brownish disgusting discharge. I had to wear a pad for like 2-3 weeks because I ended up getting my period a week and 3 days later. I also started take ortho tri-cyclen which I'm not sure if what i had was breakthru bleeding or from the procedure. But I had that brown discharge for over 3 weeks. Actually it might have been longer than that. Since then I went for a pap smear every 3 months since then. The first pap smear came back abnormal still but don't worry if that happens because the doctor told me it was because my cells were still healing from the leep biopsy. The next one came back normal. I have had pap smears done every 3 months until October 2000 and they have all come back normal. I was told though that since they all came back normal that I will probably not have to worry about it ever again. But I do have to go back every 6 months to be on the safe side. I'm going to go back for a pap smear in April to just get checked but I don't even worry about it anymore. For a while it was a big part of my life. Now I don't even remember why I got so upset in the first place. I can't even remember the fear. You probably don't have an infection, but I would make an appointment to be on the safe side. I was told that I should expect a discharge for up to 4 weeks. That is what is normal. So relax and don't stress out so much. Also to help with the healing make sure you are getting plenty of sleep, eating well, and taking a multivitamin to promote healing. Good luck.
