Post Doxycycline vs. Alcohol ?

Is is prohibited to drink alcohol while taking "Doxycycline" prescribed for Chlamydia ? and if so, what are the side effects in case it happened ?

I was recently diagnosed with chlamydia too, and I was prescribed azithromycin, not doxycycline. I had the same question about alcohol, because the pharmacist didn't say anything about avoiding alcohol, and I had a couple beers after taking my medication. I started to worry that maybe I'd caused the medication to not be effective. However, I asked my doctor, and she said there should be no problem caused by the alcohol. If there were, it would be mentioned on the warnings/instructions that accompany your prescription. They always tell you if there's anything you're supposed to avoid. All it says on my prescription is to avoid calcium and antacids within 2 hours of the medication. Hope that makes you feel a little better ...
